Tortoise

Tortoise

This tortoise I heard before I saw it, grazing away in this field. Possibly Testudo marginata or marginated tortoise? In ancient times, a common type of lyre was fashioned from the shell of a tortoise. Photographed in Volos, Thessaly.

Wall lizard in Greece

Wall lizard in Greece

This picture was taken in Volos, Thessaly, where lizards are found almost anywhere. Definitely a member of the genus Podarcis, most likely Podarcis muralis or the common wall lizard. This one allowed me to get very close; a natural model!
