In Greek mythology, Jason is the son of Aeson, the rightful king of Iolcus in Thessaly. He served as leader of the Argonauts, a group of about fifty heroes who set out on a quest for the Golden Fleece, which was kept in Colchis, a region on the edge of the Black Sea.
